Chinese Delegation Explores Economic Partnerships
A delegation of economic and technical experts from China's State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) spent two days in Atlanta meeting with state government and business leaders during a visit facilitated by the Institute's International Center.
The visit included meetings at the state capitol with Deputy Secretary of State Patrick Kelly Farr, and David Tanner, deputy director of the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. The delegation also met with representatives from Southern Company and its subsidiary Georgia Power. The meetings were intended to position China and Georgia to benefit from future economic partnerships resulting from expert exchanges.
SAFEA works with foreign business, government, and educational entities to facilitate expert exchanges in the areas of science, technology, agriculture, disaster relief, and more. During the visit, SAFEA Deputy Director Ming Lu met with Institute Director Laura Meadows to discuss ways in which the Institute can assist in identifying U.S. experts in the areas of government capacity building and economic and industrial development.
The Institute's International Center works worldwide to facilitate relationships that position Georgia to benefit from an increasingly global economy. Governments throughout the globe seek out the Vinson Institute's International Center for technical assistance and for comprehensive training programs in the areas of leadership development, human resource management, financial management, and more.
