Jones Arrives as New Head of Training and Development
The Vinson Institute is pleased to announce the arrival of Stacy Jones as its new associate director of the Governmental Training, Education, and Development Division. Prior to joining the Institute full-time, Jones served as chief development officer for Walton Regional Medical Center. She also led a number of training courses and facilitated strategic planning sessions on behalf of the Institute as an adjunct faculty member from 2004 to 2009.
In her role as head of the training division, Jones will coordinate the hundreds of professional development opportunities offered each year to individuals serving in Georgia's state and local governments. The range of programs covers financial management, leadership and management development, planning and zoning, and more. The Vinson Institute had more than 26,000 training enrollments in FY 2011 and helped develop the skills and knowledge of individuals from elected and executive-level officials to frontline employees across the state.
"We are excited to welcome Stacy to the Institute to lead our training division," commented Institute Director Laura Meadows. "Stacy brings an impressive skill set, experience in both the public and private sectors, and a passion for public service. I believe she will take our already great training division to new heights with innovative programs and ways of reaching our customers."
Jones has a strong background in local economic development. She was executive director for downtown development for the City of Monroe and managed revitalization efforts for its historic town center. She also served as director of tourism and public affairs for the City of Conyers and the Georgia International Horse Park. She replaces Laura Meadows as the division's associate director. Meadows was appointed Vinson Institute director in February 2012.
