Local government officials can sharpen their financial skills utilizing free Quickbooks resources developed by the Vinson Institute and the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts. The resources, which were originally created for classroom use, help financial personnel better understand the Quickbooks application as customized for governments using the state-required Uniform Chart of Accounts.

Quickbooks I. Users will become familiar with general navigation within the Quickbooks software and learn how to establish companies (funds).

Quickbooks II. Cash receipting and disbursing functions, reconciling bank statements, billing and collecting receivables, and recording and paying payables are the focus of Quickbooks II.

Quickbooks III. Thorough instruction is provided in fund level financial statement preparation, financial analysis, and audit work paper schedule preparation.

Quickbooks IV. The critical functions of employee payroll procedures, payroll tax reports, and payroll records are explained in Quickbooks IV.
