Contracting for Architectural or Engineering Design Services: Local Government Best Practices in Qualifications-Based Selection
Contact: Jan Crosby, crosby@cviog.uga.edu; 706.542.9520
When it comes time for a local government to tackle a large infrastructure project, choosing and contracting with the right architectural or engineering design firm is an important but complicated task. The Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS) is a step-by-step process designed to take the guesswork out of decision making, from firm selection to contract negotiation. QBS training is an interactive program that teaches you how to make information-based decisions at the greatest quality and value for your community. Participants learn from case studies and instruction how to avoid common pitfalls and minimize political elements in the process. Those involved at all levels of these special projects would benefit from learning the QBS process: elected officials*, public works directors, purchasing officials, water and sewer directors, and city/county clerks.

*Municipal elected officials will receive 6 hours of Training Institute credit.
