      - The Vinson Institute Fellows Program is an educational opportunity for UGA's undergraduate students interested in state and local government. Through the program, students will have an opportunity to become involved in our training, applied research and technical assistance programs and other projects for state and local governments in Georgia and internationally.

      - Every spring semester, over 50 junior and senior students from Georgia's public and private universities and colleges intern with the Georgia General Assembly. These students gain first-hand experience in the lawmaking process through the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The GLIP was created in the 1970s under the leadership of then Lt. Governor Zell Miller and is a paid internship opportunity coordinated by the Georgia General Assembly.

Stockbridge De-Annexation Fiscal Analysis

In August 2017, the City of Stockbridge requested that the Carl Vinson Institute of Government conduct a study of the fiscal impacts of a possible de-annexation. The report presents an analysis of how de-annexing an identified area would affect the city’s finances.
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government was not involved in the feasibility study conducted by Georgia State University on the proposed city of Eagles Landing.
Potential impact on specific municipal bonds or the greater municipal bond market were not considered as a part of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government study. No implication about potential impact regarding either should be attributed to the Carl Vinson Institute of Government by virtue of this being outside the scope of the analysis.
