Ed is an architectural historian based at Fort Benning with the UGA Defense Community Resilience Program, part of the Institute of Government’s Infrastructure and Community Resilience division. He joined the Institute of Government in September 2024, marking a continuation of his 16-year tenure in this position. Ed finds solutions for making historic buildings fit modern military needs without losing historic character. His concepts are rooted in years of hands-on historic preservation work, Fort Benning historic research, academic preservation knowledge, and a full-time prior Army career.
